In this clip, videotaped in 2004 when Kasumagic attended a Facing History Institute, she talks about how she makes meaning of the word healing.
Transcript:
"I like the word healing. I love that word, and then maybe reconciliation can be the next word; the next stage. But I love the word healing, because we are talking about healing yourself; it's again connected to facing yourself. I think that's a must in the process. Because reconciliation involves two sides. You can reconcile with yourself too; you know, be in peace with yourself, and in solace with yourself. But it's more about two sides reconciling, bridging the gap. But healing for me, it's first, it talks about healing your own broken world, your own inner self, your own soul, which is for me inevitable for the whole process of reconciliation."
